Amyas Eden BORTON, known as BIFFY.
Biffy was born 20th Sept 1886, to parents Colonel Arthur Close Borton, and Adelaide Beatrice (ne Drummond).
He had joined the army militia, and by 23 May 1906 was a 2nd Lt in the Black Watch.
He first learnt to fly in 1908, and gained his Royal Aero Club Certificate as shown right in 1912 with a Bristol Biplane.

2 Nov 1914: Captain and Flight Commander, Sqn, RFC.
27 Oct 1915: Major and Officer Commanding, No 10 (Training) Sqn RFC.
27 Dec 1915: Officer Commanding, No 27 Sqn. (G100 Elephant -
1 Aug 1916: Lt Col. Officer Commanding, ? Wing RFC.
5 Feb 1917:Officer Commanding, 5th Wing RFC.
5 Oct 1917: Officer Commanding, 40th (Army) Wing RFC.
21 Nov 1917: He was a Colonel, and Officer Commanding, Palestine Group.
14 Dec 1917: Officer Commanding, Palestine Brigade RFC. Joined RAF as Lt Colonel.
1 Apr 1918: Made Brig. Gen. and was General Officer Commanding / Army Ordnance Corp, RAF in Palestine.
1 Aug 1919: Made Wg. Cdr. and awarded Permanent Commission as a Lieutenant Colonel.
23 Dec 1919: Group Captain i/c Administration, HQ RAF Halton.
